World of Outlaws Late Model Series To Launch 2016 Season With Georgia-Florida Slate Of Six Races At Three Tracks Over Nine Days

 

New-Look February Trek Features Screven Motor Speedway & Bubba Raceway Park Combination Weekend ahead of Volusia Speedway Park's DIRTcar Nationals

NEW RICHMOND, Wis. - July 30, 2015 - As the World of Outlaws Late Model Series prepares for its richest event of the year during this weekend's USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway, the national tour is already providing an early look at its 2016 schedule.

Series officials today revealed the first six WoO LMS events of 2016, announcing a new-look February schedule that will feature six events at three tracks in Georgia and Florida over a nine-day stretch. Three supporting dates for DIRTcar Late Models will make for nine consecutive nights of action during the early-season stretch.

WoO LMS Points Leader Survives Heavy Pressure through Second Half of Shawano's 50-Lapper to Score $10,550 Payday

SHAWANO, Wis. - July 28, 2015 - The results will show that Shane Clanton led every lap of Tuesday's Sun Drop Shootout at Shawano Speedway to win from the outside pole, but the victory certainly didn't come easy for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series points leader.

Scoring his ninth WoO LMS victory of the season, Clanton, 39, of Zebulon, Ga., survived repeated challenges from Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., amid heavy lapped traffic during the second half of the 50-lap race to earn a $10,550 payday at the half-mile oval. Read More

In another thrilling Prairie Dirt Classic A-Main at Fairbury American Legion Speedway, Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., advanced from his eighth starting spot and outdueled sixth-starting Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., in an epic back-and-forth battle through the second half of the 100-lap race before using a dramatic final-lap pass to score a $26,000 victory in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series event. FAIRBURY, Ill. - July 24, 2015 - Scott Bloomquist's long-awaited return to Fairbury American Legion Speedway got off to a stellar start during Friday's preliminary action for the 26th annual Prairie Dirt Classic presented by Bank of Pontiac.

Racing at the popular quarter-mile oval for the first time in more than 13 years, Bloomquist, 51, of Mooresburg, Tenn., was among the top qualifiers for the blockbuster two-day event and won the second of six 15-lap heat races to claim a spot in the Top Six Redraw for Saturday's 100-lap, $26,000-to-win A-Main. Inaugural Event Features MOWA Sprint Car Action in Addition to WoO LMS Program

QUINCY, Ill. - July 21, 2015 - Race fans at Quincy Raceways have waited a long time for a race this big.

Marking the biggest race night in the track's 41-year history, the quarter-mile oval is set to host the World of Outlaws Late Model Series for the first time for the inaugural Workforce 40 on Thursday evening.

The $8,000-to-win event kicks off a stretch of seven race nights over 10 days for the national tour and its star-studded list of touring regulars, which includes series points leader Shane Clanton of Zebulon, Ga., three-time series champion Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., and defending series champion Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., among others. Three-Time Defending Series Champion Overtakes Briggs Late at Deer Creek Speedway to Earn First WoO LMS Victory of 2015

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. - July 18, 2015 - Darrell Lanigan is back.

Returning to the World of Outlaws Late Model Series after a one-race hiatus, Lanigan, the three-time and defending series champion from Union, Ky., led the final 13 laps of Saturday's NAPA Auto Parts Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway to score his first WoO LMS victory of the season.

Driving a second Wayman McMillan-owned Black Diamond by Club 29 Race Car as a teammate to Morgan Bagley, the second-starting Lanigan overtook polesitter Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., on lap 38 and led the remaining distance to earn $11,900 for the 71st WoO LMS victory of his career and his third consecutive Gopher 50 triumph.Read More

Heavy Thunderstorm Wipes Out Tuesday’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series Event At Gillette Midway Through Program

GILLETTE, Wyo. - July 14, 2015 - A heavy thunderstorm that moved over Gillette Thunder Speedway just after completion of heat races for Tuesday's World of Outlaws Late Model Series Wild West Tour event forced track and series officials to cancel the remainder of the night's program. The event will not be made up.

Tuesday's event was the third scheduled date for the five-race WoO LMS Wild West Tour. Prior to the rainout, series points leader Shane Clanton of Zeublon, Ga., set fast time over 34 entries and won the first of four heat races. Chase Junghans of Manhattan, Kan., Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., and Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., claimed the other three heats.
